💁‍♀️How to Care for Your Extensions

Great extensions deserve great care. Follow these simple, brand-approved steps to keep your hair looking luxurious and feeling healthy from day one.

The First 48 Hours

  • Don’t shampoo for at least 48 hours after application so the attachment sites can properly set.

Washing & Conditioning

  • Use aftercare products designed for extensions to protect the attachment area and maximize wear.

  • When shampooing, lather gently from roots to tips—avoid rough scrubbing around attachments.

  • Rinse with your head slightly tilted back so water flows down the lengths to help prevent knotting.

  • Apply conditioner or a mask to the mid-lengths and ends (keep product away from the attachment sites).

Drying & Brushing

  • Blot excess water—don’t rub hair with a towel.

  • Detangle with a wide-tooth comb or extension-safe brush, working from ends upward and being extra gentle near attachments.

Daily Styling & Protection

  • Keep oils/serums on the lengths only, not on the bonds/attachment area.

  • If you’ve used lots of styling product, follow with Anti-Tap Water to help clear residue and rebalance after wet treatments.

  • For sleep, workouts, windy days, sauna, or swimming, secure hair in a loose braid or low ponytail to minimize tangling and tension on attachments.

Ongoing Maintenance

  • Brush regularly and always dry your hair after washing; extension hair may also need more frequent gentle brushing than usual.

  • Book your stylist for periodic check-ins so everything keeps performing as expected.

Quick Checklist

  • Wait 48 hours before first wash.

  • Use Great Lengths–recommended aftercare.

  • Gentle shampoo; rinse with head slightly back.

  • Condition mids-to-ends only.

  • Blot dry; detangle from ends up.

  • Keep oils off attachment sites.

  • Dry after every wash; regular brush-throughs.
